A Date with Shirley
Dir. Ken Jacobs. 2025, 48 mins. U.S. Digital. This colorful and cubist record of a Chinatown haircut is the final long-form work by the great avant-garde filmmaker Ken Jacobs, who died last October. As with his first film, Orchard Street (1955), made 70 years earlier, A Date with Shirley is a slice of New York City life that transforms urban energy into cinematic spectacle. Three cameras capture the action, one operated by Ken as he is having his Einstein-ian locks shorn, and the others by his children, Aza and Nisi. A loving and poignant family scene, the film is also a dazzling work of art—and a tribute to a fine barber whose phone number is offered in the credits

Eden Sher: I Was On A Sitcom
Riotous and deeply personal, Eden Sher’s debut comedy special is a show about finding out who you are when your TV show ends and your "real life" begins. Because when you've played a character on TV for a decade, what exactly does it mean to "be yourself?” Living at the intersection of stand-up, storytelling and theatrical chaos, this solo show offers a rare intimate glimpse inside a popular sitcom actor’s real, raw life. Sher dives headfirst into the identity crisis that followed nine years of playing the same character—and what happens when a nurse recognizes you while in the middle of your emergency C-section. Whether you're a die-hard Middle fan or have no idea who Eden Sher is (she will explain), I Was On A Sitcom is a wild, hilarious, and oddly moving ride through fame, identity, and a harrowing surprise twin pregnancy.

Chicken Feet
Michelle and Ben have a big announcement. Lynn and Chris? Front row seats. What was meant to be a celebratory dim sum lunch quickly gives way to an unbearably cringeworthy ten minutes that nobody at the table asked for. Sharp, uncomfortable, and darkly humorous, "Chicken Feet" deconstructs the entitlement and desperate search for validation that simmer beneath the surface of modern social dynamics - making it all a little hard to swallow.
